CITY-PARK MAXEI is a climate-oriented and participatory
open space concept for the redevelopment of the
Corregidora Stadium area in Querétaro, Mexico. The
project addresses an underused, car-dominated urban
landscape shaped by a semi-arid climate, limited
thermal comfort, perceived insecurity, and weak spatial
identity. It explores how climate-adaptive design and
inclusive participation (e.g. 43 surveyed/interviewees)
can transform transitional infrastructure into a welcoming
public space.

ATTRACT → STAY → ENJOY
Attraction is created through activities that respond to
stakeholder needs and encourage diverse forms of
use. Staying is supported by climate-responsive strategies
(e.g. shading, native vegetation, and spatial orientation)
to improve thermal comfort. Enjoyment focuses
on perceived and actual safety, strengthening wellbeing
and long-term use.

Local identity shapes the design through colour strategies,
symbolic references, and clear graphic language,
reinforcing recognition and belonging. Meanwhile,
participation works as a planning method and a spatial
strategy, positioning users as active contributors.
