WAYS OF WATER rethinks Vestskoven through a hydrological
approach, where water is the central design
principle for forest transformation. Preparing for a wet
future environment, the project introduces hydrology to
Vestskoven and co-designs and co-manages the site
together with the water. Rather than going against
nature, the proposal makes room for water and enhances
it, using hydrology maps to trace the ways of water
through the site and shape wet forest conditions.
The transformation unfolds through three development
plans: 5, 25, and 50 years, showing the evolution and
adaptation of the forest over time. Thinning schemes,
management strategies, and colonisation guide nature
regeneration, clearings, forest edges,
and mixed forest structures.
